MV VIKING ORION DEPARTS

There are no cruise vessels at anchor or alongside in Port Phillip Bay. The last cruise vessel for the 2019/20 cruise season, MV VIKING ORION, sailed from Station Pier at 17:00hr on Thursday 09 April 2020.
At this time there are no cruise vessels expected until October 2020. VPCM is now undertaking programmed repair and maintenance.
The operations of TT-Line will continue as scheduled.   

Restrictions on Public Access
Due to the repair and maintenance programme and the ongoing restrictions on movement and activity as part of the State of Emergency in Victoria Station Pier will be closed to public access.

Compliance with Australian and Victorian Government Requirements:
The operations of vessels in the port of Melbourne are monitored by the Australian Border Force (ABF) and the Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment (DAWE). DAWE are responsible for biosecurity and together with the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) are ensuring that the vessels comply with the applicable Commonwealth and Victorian Government legislation and regulations.   

VPCM is complying with the normal Australian and Victorian Government legislation and regulation. In addition, the following directions are in place:

  • Biosecurity (Human Biosecurity Emergency) (Human Coronavirus with Pandemic Potential) (Emergency Requirements) Amendment Determination (No 1) 2020 dated 27 March 2020 issued by the authority of the Minister for Health.

  • Cruise Ship Docking Direction from the Deputy Chief Health Officer (Communicable Diseases) in accordance with the emergency powers arising from declared state of emergency.  Cruise Ship Docking. Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 (Vic) Section 200.
