Station Pier is playing host to the US Navy’s USS Bonhomme Richard, an amphibious assault ship, during its visit to Melbourne.
Changes to access
During the ship’s visit, Station Pier and parts of the West Finger Pier are closed to the public and roads leading to the pier are closed to traffic from the Princes Street roundabout. For more information about the road closures please contact the City of Port Phillip.
Spirit of Tasmania passengers are not affected by the closures and will embark and disembark as usual.
Members of the public visiting the area are encouraged to use public transport or walk.
Viewing the ship
Two good vantage points for viewing the ship are Princes Pier in Port Melbourne and the public observation deck at Webb Dock.
Information about the ship
To learn about the ship and its activities while it is in Melbourne, please visit the USS Bonhomme Richard’s Facebook page.
The ship arrived this morning, Monday 28 August, and is scheduled to leave on Sunday 3 September.
